York Regional Police have laid multiple charges following a major seizure of drugs, firearms, and other weapons during Project 8 Mile, a multi-jurisdiction investigation targeting suspected drug trafficking.
Police say that the investigation began in fall 2025 after reports emerged that two men were involved in trafficking controlled substances in York Region and neighboring areas. Further inquiry identified additional suspects believed to be distributing drugs in the Town of Georgina and surrounding communities.
According to the details in a police release, on February 25 and 26, 2026, police executed search warrants at residences in Georgina, Toronto, and Vaughan. The operation involved the #3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau, with assistance from York Regional Police Emergency Response and Canine Units, as well as support from #1, #4, and #5 Districts. Authorities seized a variety of weapons, including one firearm, a crossbow, brass knuckles, and assorted ammunition, along with over $58,000 in cash. Confiscated drugs included cocaine, hydromorphone (Hydromorph-Contin), methamphetamine, Oxycocet, and MDMA, with an estimated street value of $325,000.
The suspects now face numerous charges related to drug trafficking, possession of weapons, and other criminal offenses. A full list of charges is available through York Regional Police.
