York Regional Police search for suspect after armed robbery in Richmond Hill

York Regional Police are  searching for a suspect after a late-night armed robbery at a commercial business in Richmond Hill over the weekend. 

Officers with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit were called to the area of Forestwood Street and Major Mackenzie Drive West at approximately 10:40 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, following reports of a robbery in progress. According to investigators, a masked man entered the store, brandished a firearm and demanded cash before fleeing the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. 

Police say the suspect left before officers arrived. No physical injuries were reported. 

The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion, standing between six-foot-three and six-foot-five inches tall and believed to be between 28 and 30 years old. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black ski mask, black gloves, a red jacket and black shoes with white soles. He was seen carrying a black firearm with silver trim.
