York Regional Police Arrest Two After Stolen Vehicle and Firearm Recovered

York Regional Police have seized a loaded firearm, recovered a stolen vehicle, and arrested two suspects following a suspicious vehicle investigation in Vaughan. 

On Friday, August 15, 2025, at approximately 9:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in a plaza near Highway 7 West and Keele Street. When police arrived, they confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen from Toronto on August 12, 2025. 

As officers approached, the suspect vehicle rammed a police cruiser before attempting to flee. The two suspects abandoned the stolen vehicle and tried to escape the area in a ride-share vehicle but were quickly taken into custody a short distance away. A subsequent search led to the recovery of a loaded firearm and the key to the stolen vehicle. 

Police confirmed that one of the accused, 18-year old Sharah SYED of Toronto, was already bound by an undertaking at the time of the offence. He Faces multiple firearm-related offences, possession of stolen property, dangerous operation of a vehicle, failing to comply with conditions, failing to stop after a collision, and flight from police. 

The second suspect, a 17-year-old male from Toronto, cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He faces firearm-related offences and possession of stolen property.
