Woman wanted in suspected hate-motivated assault

A female suspect is wanted in connection with an alleged hate-motivated incident that took place at a bus stop last summer. The Toronto Police Service is appealing to the public for help in identifying this suspect.  

According to a police news release, this alleged incident happened on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at around 4:41 p.m., in the area of Thorncliffe Park Drive and Overlea Boulevard. Police say the victim and the suspect were standing at a bus stop when the suspect overheard the victim speaking a language other than English to another person. 

Police allege the suspect then made anti-Egyptian and anti-immigration remarks before approaching the victim and pouring water over their head. The suspect then exited the bus and was last seen walking eastbound on Overlea Boulevard. 

The suspect is described as a woman between 30 and 40 years old, approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a heavy build. She was wearing a white shirt, black tights, black-and-white Converse shoes, and a black-and-white head covering, and was carrying a green purse. 

Police have released an image of the suspect and say the incident is being investigated as a suspected hate-motivated offence.
