York Regional Police have arrested and charged two men in connection with a failed attempted robbery in the community of Kleinburg.
According a news released by police, officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2026, at a commercial plaza near Islington Avenue and Stegman’s Mill Road.
At around 1 p.m., a grey Honda CR-V occupied by two individuals wearing ski masks entered the parking lot. When a complainant approached the vehicle, it quickly left the area.
While officers were inside a nearby business gathering details about the incident, the same vehicle returned and stopped directly outside the unit, prompting police to rush back to the scene.
Officers were contained this vehicle, but both suspects fled on foot. One man was arrested after a short chase. With help from canine and air support units, the second suspect was located hiding in a backyard shed and taken into custody. No injuries were reported.
Police later determined the Honda CR-V had been stolen from the Toronto on Feb. 8, 2026.
Investigators believe the accused may be linked to other similar incidents and have released their photos.
Joshua Adams, 22, and Anthony Mitchell, 24, both of Toronto, have each been charged with attempted robbery, disguise with intent, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
