Two separate shooting incidents took place in Brampton on Monday night, resulting in one fatality and three others injured.

The first shooting occurred at Chinguacousy Park around 9:15 p.m., near Central Park Drive and Queen Street East. Peel Regional Police were called to the scene following reports of gunfire during the Jambana One World Festival, which was taking place from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. as part of the Civic Holiday celebrations.
Two individuals were injured and transported to Brampton Civic Hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition and out of danger. Police are currently searching for suspects, although no further details have been released.

The second incident happened just after 12:30 a.m. near Queen Street East and Centre Street, following an altercation. One woman, identified by friends and neighbors as June, tragically died from her injuries. Two other individuals sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital.

According to residents, June was known as a kind and helpful person in the neighborhood. Peel Police have classified the shooting as an isolated incident and confirmed there is no threat to public safety.

Some neighbors believe the incident may be connected to a recent animal cruelty complaint, which had been reported to police the previous week. However, police have not confirmed any link or provided further details on that matter.

A 65-year-old male suspect, identified as Wilfred Kent, has been arrested in connection with the second shooting. Police have not released information about the relationship between the suspect and the victims. Investigators are asking anyone with dashcam or video footage to contact Peel Regional Police
