Two people charged after protest incident at Queen’s Park

Two people are facing charges following an incident during a large demonstration in the Queen’s Park area near Bay Street and Wellesley Street West on Wednesday afternoon. 

According to Toronto Police Service, officers were monitoring a protest in the area around 3:03 p.m. on March 4, 2026, when a monument on the grounds was allegedly vandalized with spray paint. 

Police say officers attempted to arrest one suspect in connection with the damage, but several demonstrators allegedly became confrontational and interfered with the arrest. During the incident, another protester allegedly spat on an officer. 

Two individuals were taken into custody: 

Rohtansh Saini, 22, of Toronto, has been charged with mischief causing damage under $5,000. 

Mason Wallington, 21, of Hay River, has been charged with assaulting a peace officer. 

Both are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on April 17, 2026, at 11 a.m. in courtroom 203.
