Police in the Town of Georgina say two firearms and a quantity of controlled substances were seized in two unrelated incidents within one week.

According to York Regional Police, the first incident took place at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, when officers conducting proactive patrol stopped a vehicle in the area of Highway 48 and High Street.

While speaking with the driver, observed open alcoholic beverages inside the vehicle. A subsequent search led officers to locate a loaded firearm along with a quantity of controlled substances.

The seizure follows a separate incident earlier in the week.

At about 3:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10, officers responded to a report of an intoxicated man seated in the back of a rideshare vehicle. When officers attempted to wake the individual, they located a loaded firearm. Police say a further search led to the seizure of additional controlled substances.

Investigators also allege the suspect was bound by probation orders for unrelated offences at the time of the incident.
