Two charged with second-degree murder in Brampton homicide

Peel Regional Police have charged two individuals in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred at a residence in Brampton.

Investigators from the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau say officers were called to a home near Main Street North and Church Street East around 7:45 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 26, following reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, police located a 32-year-old man suffering from serious stab wounds inside the residence. 

Despite life-saving efforts by emergency responders, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. 

During the initial police response, officers located two suspects inside the residence. Both individuals were taken into custody at the scene without incident. 

Police have since charged the suspects with Second-Degree Murder. The accused have been identified as 26-year-old Jaiden Brett-Hughes of Mississauga and 31-year-old Tandaeka Frazer of Brampton. 

Both Brett-Hughes and Frazer are scheduled to appear for bail hearings at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Monday, Dec. 29. 

Investigators say the incident is believed to be isolated, and there is no ongoing risk to public safety. Police confirmed that no additional suspects are being sought at this time.
