Toronto Police Service has announced the arrest of two individuals in connection with a human trafficking investigation involving underage victims. The investigation, led by the Human Trafficking Unit, began in June 2025 and uncovered serious allegations involving two female victims aged 14 and 17.

According to police, the accused used deception, coercion, and control to traffic the victims. They allegedly created and managed online advertisements offering sexual services, took sexualized photographs of the victims, and transported them to various hotels to meet clients. The earnings from these activities were reportedly surrendered to the accused and kept by them.

On Thursday, August 14, 2025, police arrested the suspects in Hamilton and Toronto.

Tyrique Harmer, 22, of Hamilton, and Maria Toth Taddeo, 21, of Toronto, have each been charged with multiple offences, including human trafficking of minors, weapons possession, child pornography offences, advertising sexual services, profiting from underage exploitation, procuring minors, drug trafficking, and illegal firearm possession. Both were scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on August 14, 2025.
Police believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward. Images of the accused have been released, and anyone with relevant details is encouraged to contact investigators directly or reach out anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
