York Regional Police’s Homicide Unit has laid charges against two men and two youths in connection with a brazen kidnapping in Vaughan, while investigators continue to search for additional suspects.
The incident occurred on November 14, 2025, when a 24-year-old Vaughan man was confronted by multiple individuals in a parking lot near Jane Street and Highway 7. The suspects forced the victim into a vehicle and fled, triggering an urgent and wide-scale police investigation.
After five days in captivity, the victim was released on November 19 in the area of Meadowvale Road and Sheppard Avenue in Toronto. He suffered minor injuries and was able to seek help from a citizen before contacting police.
On December 3, 2025, officers executed several search warrants at homes across Toronto, resulting in four arrests.
Those charged include 18-year-old Nathan Haskett and 31-year-old Shawn Dusome, both from Toronto. Their charges range from kidnapping for ransom and forcible confinement to arson, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence. Haskett faces additional charges of assault with a weapon, robbery, and possession for the purpose of trafficking. Two 15-year-old males from Toronto have also been charged with several offences, including possession of property obtained by crime, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, and arson.
York Regional Police believe more suspects are still outstanding. The investigation remains active as officers work to identify and locate all individuals involved.
