A devastating fire tore through a home early Thursday morning, claiming the lives of two adults and sending four others, including a young child aged 4–5, to hospital in serious condition.
The blaze broke out around 2 a.m. at a residence on Banas Way, near McLaughlin and Remembrance Roads. According to police, three of the nine residents of the home including another child ,remain missing.
The fire was so intense that flames reached the roof, causing significant structural collapse inside the house. Fire Chief Andy Glenn reported that one victim was found inside the home, while the other was discovered outside. Neighboring homes sustained damage, though all occupants were safely evacuated.
The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. With the assistance of an excavation company, authorities are carefully removing portions of the structure to continue the search for the missing residents. The injured suffered from burns and smoke inhalation.
Officials described the incident as an extremely tragic day for the community.
