Toronto Police seek suspect after man armed with knife targets security booth

Police are searching for a man accused of threatening a security guard with a knife during a disturbing incident at a security booth in Scarborough.  

Police say the incident occurred on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at approximately 3:15 p.m., when officers responded to reports of an assault in the area of McCowan Road and Highway 401. 

Investigators allege the suspect approached a nearby security booth and suddenly punched through the mesh window. The man was reportedly armed with a knife and reached into the booth, repeatedly stabbing the desk inside. 

The security guard inside the booth managed to escape and run to safety. Police say the victim was not injured during the frightening encounter. 

After the incident, the suspect fled the area on foot before officers arrived. 

The suspect is described as a man with short grey-blonde hair and a clean-shaven face. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black leather jacket and blue jeans. 

Police have released both an image and video of the suspect as part of the investigation and are urging anyone who may recognize the individual to come forward.
