Toronto police searching for woman in ongoing fraud investigation related to immigration services

Toronto Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a woman wanted in connection with a fraud investigation. 

It is alleged that between May 31, 2023, and May 31, 2025, a woman identified as Maria Corpuz defrauded multiple individuals around Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue under the pretense of providing immigration services. 

She reportedly promised to obtain Canadian citizenship, and work permits in exchange for money. However, it was later discovered that the documents were forged, and the services were fraudulent. 

Maria Corpus, 43, of Toronto, is described as being 5’4″ tall, with a medium build, black shoulder length   hair, and brown eyes. Her image has been released   

She is facing multiple charges, including: 

  • Three counts of Fraud Under $5,000 
  • Three counts of False Pretenses Under $5,000 
  • Two counts of Uttering Forged Documents 

Police have requested that she turn herself in voluntarily. Investigators believe there may be additional victims who have yet to come forward.
