Toronto police charge third suspect in fatal 2025 shooting of 15-year-old

Toronto Police Service have charged a third suspect in connection with a deadly shooting last year that killed 15-year-old Jack Jahkai. 

According to a news release, 20-year-old Abdul Yeberebaba, who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant, was arrested on February 27, 2026 by Calgary Police Service. He has been returned to Toronto police and charged with second-degree murder. 

The fatal shooting occurred on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at approximately 10:06 p.m. in the Emmett Avenue and Jane Street area. Police responded to a call reporting the shooting, which resulted in the death of the 15-year-old male. The victim was identified as Jahkai Jack. 

This arrest follows earlier two arrests in the investigation: 

On February 24, 2026, 19-year-old Jayden Samuel-James was arrested in Toronto and charged with accessory after fact to murder. 

On February 25, 2026, 21-year-old Rajveer Gill was arrested in British Columbia and is also facing accessory after fact to murder charge in Toronto. 

Police had previously stated that Yeberebaba was wanted in connection with the homicide on Canada-wide warrant for second degree murder. Now he has been arrested and charged. Yeberebaba is scheduled to appear at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., in room 301.
