Toronto police charge 53-year-old man after stabbing at a North York residence

 Toronto Police Service say a 53-year-old man is in police custody following a stabbing which left four family members injured in the city’s north end. 

Officers were called to a home near Bathurst Street and Steeles Avenue West at about 9:45 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 16, 2026. When they arrived, police found five adult family members inside the residence. Investigators say that four of them had been injured during a physical altercation involving a knife. 

Two men, aged 23 and 26, suffered serious stab wounds, while two women, aged 51 and 29, sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening. The accused was arrested at the scene and was not injured, police said. 

The Toronto man faces three counts of aggravated assault, three counts of assault with a weapon and one count of assault causing bodily harm. He was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on Finch Avenue West on Tuesday morning. 

Police are not releasing the name of the accused to protect the identities of the victims and say they are not seeking any additional suspects.
