Toronto Police arrest five in series of commercial break-and-enters targeting ATMs

The Toronto Police Service says five people have been arrested following an investigation into a series of commercial break-and-enters across the city that allegedly targeted businesses with ATMs. 

Police say members of the 31 Division Major Crime Unit launched the investigation on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, after several commercial break-ins were reported. Investigators allege the incidents occurred between Friday, January 2, and Tuesday, January 6, 2026. 

On Wednesday, January 7, officers executed a Criminal Code search warrant. As a result, police say two stolen motor vehicles and a stolen ATM were located and seized. 

According to investigators, Emerson Valdez, 33, of Toronto, has been charged with two counts of break and enter to commit, three counts of failing to comply with a probation order, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of a break-in instrument, and breach of probation. 

Nory Jacinto, 54, of Toronto, is charged with break and enter to commit and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. 

James Rosario, 27, of Toronto, is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. 

Jamie Panaga, 33, of Toronto, faces two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of a break-in instrument. 

Jhon Rosario, 28, of Toronto, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. 

Police say all five accused were scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on Wednesday, January 7,2026.
