The Toronto Police Service has made an arrest following a shooting incident that took place in the Rexdale Boulevard and Islington Avenue area late last month.
On Monday, September 29, 2025, at approximately 7:35 p.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire in the area. According to investigators, two victims were shot at by a suspect and both sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to hospital for treatment.
Following an investigation led by the Gun and Gang Task Force, police located and arrested the suspect on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. At the time of his arrest, officers allegedly found the suspect in possession of a loaded semi-automatic handgun.
The accused has been identified as 28-year-old Muhammad Sheref of Ajax. He faces multiple serious charges, including two counts of Discharging a Firearm with Intent, two counts of Aggravated Assault, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, and Disguise with Intent, among others.
Sheref appeared in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre today .
