Toronto man arrested in suspected hate-motivated threats incident on TTC bus

Toronto Police have arrested a man in connection with a suspected hate-motivated threats incident that took place on a TTC bus earlier this month. 

On Monday, November 3, 2025, at approximately 6:15 p.m., officers responded to a report of a hate crime on a bus in the area of Eglinton Avenue West and William R. Allen Road. According to police, the victim was aboard the bus when the suspect, playing music loudly, boarded the vehicle. When the victim asked the suspect to turn the music down, the suspect allegedly made anti-immigrant remarks and threatened to assault the victim if they continued speaking. 

The victim alerted the bus driver, prompting the suspect to exit the bus and flee in an unknown direction. 

Through subsequent investigation, police were able to identify the suspect. On Thursday, November 20, 2025, Marco Valerio Giogrio, 38, of Toronto, was located and arrested. He has been charged with uttering threats and is scheduled to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice on January 14, 2025 

The Toronto Police Hate Crime Unit (HCU) is leading the investigation, which is being treated as a suspected hate-motivated offence.
