The City of Toronto activated its Major Snow Event Response Plan on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 5 p.m., declaring a Major Snowstorm Condition and Significant Weather Event as heavy snowfall moved into the region.
As part of the declaration, parking prohibitions are now in effect on all designated snow routes across the city. Officials say the restrictions are necessary to allow snow-clearing crews to operate safely and efficiently, while ensuring emergency vehicles can move freely along major corridors.
Toronto Parking Enforcement officers are actively monitoring snow routes. Vehicles parked on designated routes during the declared event will be ticketed, and those obstructing snow-clearing operations may be towed at the owner’s expense.
Residents are urged to check the city’s winter maintenance webpage for a complete list and map of snow routes before parking.
The Major Snowstorm Condition will remain in effect until roadways are deemed safe and snow routes are reopened for regular parking.City officials are asking motorists to comply with parking rules to support snow removal efforts and help keep Toronto’s roads clear during the storm.
