Officers with the Peel Regional Police Strategic Tactical Enforcement Policing (STEP) team have arrested three men and seized a loaded handgun following a traffic stop in Mississauga.
Police said in a news release that the incident happened on March 6 at about 10:15 p.m. near Bristol Road West and Creditview Road, when police stopped a vehicle and observed occupants violating the Cannabis Control Act.
During the investigation, the occupants were asked to exit the vehicle for a search. One suspect allegedly fled on foot but was quickly arrested after a brief pursuit. Police say officers then recovered a loaded illegal handgun and a magazine containing ammunition.


The following individuals were arrested and charged:
Malik Laroche, 18, of Brampton
Jedidiah Henry, 19, of Brampton
David Eze, 22, of Mississauga
All three face multiple firearm-related charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, and possession of a firearm with an altered serial number. Eze also faces an additional charge for having cannabis readily available in a vehicle.
Police say the seizure marks the 36th illegal firearm recovered by the STEP team in the past 11 months.
