Peel police say three people have now been charged in connection with a violent chain of events that led to a major crash in Mississauga this summer, leaving four children and a woman seriously injured.

The incident happened on the afternoon of July 3, 2025, when a black Range Rover slammed into a red Honda Civic at Ninth Line and Erin Centre Boulevard. The Civic’s five occupants; a woman and four children, suffered serious injuries, though none were fatal. Investigators say the suspects inside the Range Rover fled on foot without checking on the victims.

According to police, moments before the collision the Range Rover had been involved in an armed robbery in a nearby gym parking lot and was being tailed by a red Ford Mustang. Both vehicles were reportedly speeding and driving erratically prior to the crash.

Investigators have since identified the suspects. Daijuan Buchanan, 18, of Brampton, and Jahzvi Smith, 22, of Mississauga, were inside the Range Rover. They face a long list of charges, including robbery, multiple firearms offences, and dangerous driving causing bodily harm. Buchanan also faces counts of failing to stop after an accident and breaching a release order. Smith is further charged with pointing a firearm. Both men were held in custody and brought before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton for a bail hearing.

Police say the third suspect, Jashanpreet Singh, 28, of Mississauga, was behind the wheel of the red Mustang. He has been charged with dangerous driving and was released under conditions, pending a future court appearance.

Authorities are urging anyone with dashcam or surveillance footage of the incident to contact the 11 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau or reach out anonymously through Peel Crime Stoppers
