Halton Regional Police have arrested three males and laid multiple charges following an early-morning auto theft investigation in Oakville.

Police say officers on patrol spotted a blue Ford F-150 and a white Lincoln Aviator in a commercial driveway near Third Line and Wyecroft Road around 2:30 a.m. on February 1. As officers approached, three suspects got into the Lincoln Aviator and fled onto the QEW at a high rate of speed.

About 15 minutes later, officers located the Lincoln Aviator at the Ford Plant on Canadian Road, where the suspects were attempting to steal a black Ford Expedition. All three were arrested without incident.

A 30-year-old man, Ahmed Shkais, has been charged with multiple offences, including possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, motor vehicle theft, flight from police, and breach of release and probation orders.

Two Mississauga youths, aged 16 and 17, are also facing several auto theft-related charges. Police say the adult accused and the 16-year-old were already out on release for similar offences at the time of their arrests.

Investigators determined the Lincoln Aviator was stolen from Peel Region, while the Ford F-150 was taken from the Burlington Hampton Inn and Suites.

All three remain in custody pending bail hearings in Milton.
