Toronto police say three suspects have been arrested following a violent home invasion in North York early Monday morning that left a homeowner seriously injured.

According to the Toronto Police Service, officers responded to a robbery call around 5:19 a.m. on March 9, 2026, in the Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue East area. Investigators allege that five suspects arrived at the victim’s residence in a vehicle and forced their way inside while wearing face coverings to conceal their identities.

Once inside the home, police say the suspects assaulted the homeowner with a weapon before stealing a set of car keys. One suspect then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle, while the others escaped in the same vehicle they had arrived in.

Police say the suspects’ vehicle was involved in a collision a short distance away, after which the occupants abandoned it and fled on foot. Officers quickly arrived at the scene and arrested three of the suspects following a foot pursuit.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Three suspects have been charged in connection with the home invasion. Waheed Rahmati, 22, of Richmond Hill, and Camyar Zandinia, 20, of East Gwillimbury, both face multiple charges including theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, break and enter with intent, robbery with an offensive weapon, disguise with intent, and assault with a weapon. Rahmati is also charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance.

A 17-year-old male from Toronto, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has also been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, multiple counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, break and enter with intent, robbery with an offensive weapon, disguise with intent, and assault with a weapon.

Police say two additional suspects remain outstanding, and no descriptions have been released at this time.
