Toronto Police Service (TPS) have arrested and charged a suspect in connection with an alleged assault that occurred last week in the area of Vaughan Road and St. Clair Avenue West.
In an update released on Sunday, police said that officers received a call around 1:20 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, reporting that an unknown man had allegedly assaulted a female victim on the sidewalk. Then, the suspect fled northbound on Vaughan Road.
The victim fell to the ground and sustained life-threatening injuries.
On Sunday, January 25, 2026, Ricardo Jaylan Beckford, a 31-year-old Toronto resident, turned himself in to police. He was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault.
Beckford was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, located at 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Monday, January 25, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., in room 105, as stated by police.
