Suspect arrested in Whitchurch-Stouffville February home shooting

York Regional Police have arrested a Pickering man in connection with a February shooting at a Whitchurch-Stouffville residence. 

Police say the incident occurred on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at around 9:00 p.m. at a residence on Harold Avenue, near the 9th Line. Officers responding to the scene found damage consistent with gunfire, but fortunately, no one was injured. 

Following an investigation, 34-year-old Pirasanna Balasubramaniyam of Pickering was arrested on March 4, 2026. He has been charged with: 

Two counts of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence 

Two counts of uttering threats 

Pointing a firearm 

Assault with a weapon 

Possession of property obtained by crime 

Police say that the investigation is ongoing and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
