A 44-year-old man wanted in connection with a human trafficking investigation has been arrested following a months-long probe by police.

According to Durham Regional Police, the Human Trafficking Unit launched an investigation on May 1, 2025, after receiving allegations involving the exploitation of a female victim. Investigators say the victim first encountered the suspects in Oshawa in February 2025, where both a male and female suspect were later identified.

Police previously arrested the female suspect on July 3, 2025. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued for the male suspect, who remained outstanding for several months.

On March 12, 2026, officers with the Offender Management Unit located and arrested the man. He has been identified as Yvenord Hyacinthe, 44, of Oshawa.

He faces multiple charges, including assault, assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, robbery, extortion, and procuring. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police are continuing their investigation and are asking anyone with information to contact the Human Trafficking Unit or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.

The charges have not yet been proven in court.
