The highlight of Raunkan 2019, Rangla Punjab Arts Academy’s Annual Show was when the Creator of Rangla Punjab Arts Academy, Sarbjit Cheema, stepped foot on stage with his Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar Bhangra Team. Fully dressed in a Folk Bhangra Vardi and displaying his passion that brought our Academy together, Bhangra!
The team consisted of 8 Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar Alumni Dancers. These life-long friends danced together between the period of 1983-1989. Winning numerous awards under the coaching of Dr. Inderjit Singh and Dholi, Ustad Harbans Lal Kaku.
After 30 years, this Lyallpur Khalsa College Bhangra Team presented a Live Bhangra Performance that was coordinated specially for Raunkan 2019 by all of the members. The event was held in Surrey, BC. Canada, on November 18th 2019. This get together of Sarbjit Cheema and his friends to recreate their College day memories was beyond mesmerizing to watch! We were taken back to the time in which this team was fuelled by their love for Bhangra and each other!
