York Regional Police are appealing for witnesses and searching for suspects after a man was shot outside his home in Markham.
On Thursday, August 15, 2025, at around 5:20 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting around McCowan Road and 14th Avenue. Upon arrival, police located a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to investigators, surveillance footage shows the suspect arriving in a grey Honda CR-V SUV. The suspect is described as a man with a slim build, wearing dark clothing and white gloves.
Police say the victim was seated inside his SUV in his driveway when the suspect approached and fired through the vehicle’s door. The victim managed to escape by reversing out of the driveway, colliding with the suspect’s vehicle, which was being driven by at least one additional suspect. The victim then contacted police.
Investigators believe the shooting was targeted. They are asking anyone who has not yet spoken with police to come forward and are also seeking surveillance or dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident.
