Police looking for suspect after he allegedly removed a woman’s hijab during an assault in Mississauga

Peel Regional Police are seeking public’s assistance in identifying a suspect after a woman’s hijab was forcibly removed during a suspected hate-motivated assault incident in Mississauga. Police say that this happened last week in the city.  

Police said that on Wednesday December 3, 2025 , at around 3:30 p.m., an unknown male allegedly attacked a woman and removed her hijab. According to a police news release, the woman was walking along Mississauga Valley Boulevard that afternoon, and when she reached near the Cooksville Creek Bridge, a stranger man approached her. The suspect began yelling at her without provocation and allegedly removed her jacket hood and hijab. After pushing the woman to the ground, he fled the scene. 

Police say the woman was not physically hurt in this incident. Peel police have described the male suspect as a a tall white male with heavy build last seen wearing a black hoodie and other dark clothing. He was last seen running into a nearby wooded area.  

Residents in the area are being advised to be cautious when walking alone and to report any suspiscious behaviour to police immeditary. Police have appealed public to contact Hate Crime Unit at 905-453-2121 ext 6098 or anonymously call Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or visit peelcrimestoppers.ca if they have any information.
