Cornwall Police Service has confirmed that the triple shooting that took place in Cornwall, Ontario last Saturday was a murder-suicide incident.
In a news release, police said that at approximately 2:07 p.m. on January 3, 2026, CPS was called to a residence in the 400 block of Leitch Drive following a report of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found three people injured. Police say that all three individuals were known to each other. The investigation determined that an 81-year-old male resident of the Leitch Drive home allegedly shot his 80-year-old ex-partner and her 83-year-old male friend, and then shot himself. Both men died as a result of the shooting while the woman is continuing to receive medical treatment.
Police have recovered the firearm. The incident is being treated as a case of intimate partner violence, and there is no threat to public safety.
