An Ontario Provincial Police officer has been injured after a police cruiser was rear-ended on Highway 401 in Pickering early Friday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt shared the information in a post on X, urging drivers to use extra caution while driving in poor weather conditions. The injured officer suffered minor injuries. At the time of the incident, the officer was responding to an earlier collision in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 near Whites Road when another vehicle struck the police cruiser from behind.

In a social media post, Sgt. Schmidt emphasized that although visibility and road conditions have improved compared to 24 hours earlier, drivers still need to remain alert and keep their attention focused on the road.
