Police appeal for witnesses after female pedestrian injured seriously in Markham hit-and-run

York Regional Police are requesting witnesses to come forward and speak with the investigators as they investigate a hit-and-run after a 19-year-old pedestrian was struck at Denison Street and Featherstone Avenue around 3:41 p.m. on Thursday. 

Police said in a news release that the female victim, who was crossing in a crosswalk, was carried onto the vehicle’s hood and windshield before falling onto the road. She was taken to hospital and remains in critical but stable condition. Police said that the driver of the vehicle fled the scene. 

The suspect vehicle is described as an electric blue, four-door Honda Civic and believed to be a 2016-2020 model with chrome trim, tinted windows, and winter tires. It fled north on Middlefield Road and likely has front-end and windshield damage. 

Police are asking witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
