Ottawa, ON – Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre has secured a decisive victory in Alberta’s Battle River-Crowfoot byelection, winning more than 80 per cent of the vote on Monday. The result ensures his return to the House of Commons this fall, where he will square off against Prime Minister Mark Carney when Parliament resumes on September 15.
Speaking to supporters at a victory party in Camrose, Poilievre called it “the privilege of my life” to get to know people in the region. “In fact, I’ve had a hell of a lot of fun,” he added.
Poilievre’s return comes ahead of a mandatory Conservative leadership review in the new year, but party insiders say his win in one of the safest Tory ridings sets the stage for a renewed political battle with the Carney government.
