Peel Police seek Mississauga man in sexual assault investigation linked to place of worship inBrampton

Peel Regional Police are searching for a Mississauga man wanted in connection with a sexual assault investigation involving alleged offences at a place of worship in Brampton. 

Investigators with the Special Victims Unit (SVU) say they became aware on Tuesday, February 3, of multiple alleged sexual assaults that reportedly occurred at a church in the city. 

Following the investigation, police are seeking to locate Christopher Brito De Araujo, 24, who is wanted on several serious charges. 

The charges include: 

  • Sexual Assault (five counts) 
  • Sexual Exploitation (four counts) 
  • Sexual Interference 
  • Voyeurism 
  • Distributing Intimate Images Without Consent 

Police say the accused was employed as a youth director at the church and led multiple programs attended by young people. 

Investigators have confirmed that Brito De Araujo fled Canada to Brazil on Monday, February 2, one day before police became aware of the allegations. 

The investigation remains ongoing, and police believe there may be additional victims.
