Peel police recover firearm in kidnapping investigation and make arrests

Peel police say that investigators with the 22 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau have seized a firearm in a kidnapping investigation in Brampton area. 

According to a police news release, on November 6, 2025, at approximately 6 p.m., police were contacted by a complainant who reported that a close friend had been kidnapped. The suspects allegedly demanded $200,000, threatening to harm the victim if payment was not made. 

Officers were able to locate the victim unharmed and took one suspect into custody at the scene, where they also recovered a .45-calibre handgun. Further investigation resulted in the execution of two Criminal Code search warrants on February 13, 2026, at locations in Brampton. During the searches, officers found additional evidence, including a loaded firearm magazine and an unloaded rifle magazine. 

Two 27-year-old Brampton men, Harkirat Singh and Amritpal Singh, are facing several charges, including kidnapping while using a firearm and multiple weapons-related offences. An arrest warrant has also been issued for 28-year-old Hasanpreet Singh, who has no fixed address. He is wanted on the following charges: kidnapping while using firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm, occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm and possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm.
