Mississauga, ON – Peel Regional Police have dismantled two interconnected criminal networks responsible for a violent crime spree across the Greater Toronto Area, including armed home invasions and jewellery store robberies that left several victims with life-altering injuries and resulted in the theft of approximately $2 million in property.
Dubbed Project Night Train, the investigation focused on 17 violent incidents between May and December 2024. These crimes involved armed suspects, many of them youth, working across networks and locations throughout the region. Two particularly violent events highlighted the brutality of these crimes:
- On October 15, 2024, three suspects broke into a Mississauga home near Glen Erin Drive and Burnhamthorpe Road West. During the invasion, the victim was shot in the chest. The suspects fled in a stolen vehicle. The victim survived but sustained life-altering injuries.
- Just a week later, on October 22, two suspects followed victims into a Brampton home near Mississauga Road and Queen Street West. The suspects demanded keys to a luxury vehicle, rendered one victim unconscious, and ran over another with the stolen vehicle. That victim sustained life-threatening injuries.
Through intensive investigation, police linked the two events — and others — to two overlapping criminal networks that utilized multiple suspects, including six adults and six young persons. In total, 136 criminal charges have been laid, ranging from attempted murder, robbery, and firearms offences, to possession of property obtained by crime.
