Toronto Police Service say a fatal collision involving a female pedestrian and a box truck occurred Thursday morning near Islington Avenue and Dixon Road in Etobicoke.
Emergency crews were called to the scene at approximately 9:08 a.m. following reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a truck. The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. Duty Insp. Peter Wallace spoke to the media and told that the box truck driver was travelling southbound on Islington Avenue. When the driver turned right onto Dixon Road, the truck struck a female pedestrian who was crossing the street in the crosswalk.
Police confirmed that the driver of the truck remained at the location following the collision. The circumstances leading up to the incident are under investigation.
