An Oshawa man is facing multiple fraud-related charges following an investigation into an alleged attempt to purchase a high-end luxury vehicle using fraudulent identification in Oakville.
Halton Regional Police say the incident happened on December 11, 2025, when the accused attended Budd’s Imported Cars on Wyecroft Road and expressed interest in purchasing a Land Rover SUV valued at more than $200,000. Police say an agreement was made for the purchase, with delivery pending, after the suspect provided identification that was later determined by dealership staff to be fraudulent.
Police were contacted after the suspicious identification was discovered, and the Halton Regional Police Service Financial Crime Unit took over the investigation.
As a result, officers were able to positively identify the suspect, and on December 16, he was arrested. Investigators allege the accused was found in possession of multiple pieces of fraudulent identification, including Canadian SIN cards, driver’s licences and birth certificates.
Ambady Sajeev, 27, of Oshawa, has been charged with fraud over $5,000, identity fraud , personation with intent, and failure to comply with a probation order.
Police say Sajeev was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date in Milton.
