The Ontario government is launching a new Classroom Supplies Fund that will provide elementary school homeroom teachers with $750 each school year to purchase classroom materials, starting in September 2026.

Teachers will access the funding through a provincial website, where they can order commonly used classroom supplies such as writing materials, notebooks, calculators, arts and crafts items, tissues and paper towels.

The supplies will be delivered directly to their schools, allowing teachers to avoid paying for items out of pocket.

Premier Doug Ford said, “The new $750 Classroom Supplies Card will give teachers across the province access to the resources they need, without forcing them to cover the costs themselves or wait to be reimbursed.”

Education Minister Paul Calandra said the program aims to ensure funding reaches classrooms directly, adding, “We know that many teachers have been paying out of pocket for supplies. That isn’t fair for teachers or students.”

The government says feedback from elementary teachers and school boards will help determine which supplies are available through the program.

Additional details about the initiative will be included in the 2026 Ontario Budget, scheduled to be released on March 26, 2026.
