Toronto, ON – In a push to strengthen Ontario’s economy and empower the next generation of business leaders, the provincial government is investing an additional $2 million in Futurpreneur Canada—an organization dedicated to helping young people launch and grow businesses.

The funding will support 320 aspiring entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 39 by providing them with access to startup financing, expert mentorship, and tailored business programming. The initiative comes as part of Ontario’s broader economic strategy to support small businesses and bolster resilience amid global uncertainty and U.S. trade pressures.

“Young entrepreneurs are the backbone of Ontario’s future,” said Nina Tangri, Associate Minister of Small Business. “By investing in initiatives like Futurpreneur Canada, we are giving the next generation of business leaders the tools they need to succeed. These businesses will protect our economy, create good-paying jobs and build thriving communities across the province.”

Futurpreneur Canada is a national non-profit organization that offers collateral-free loans of up to $75,000, two years of one-on-one mentorship, and business training through its Core Startup Program. Since 2021, Ontario has invested $9 million into Futurpreneur, helping launch nearly 1,200 youth-led businesses and creating over 5,000 jobs—including in Northern, rural, and remote communities.

Small businesses remain a vital part of Ontario’s economy, employing nearly two million people and accounting for 98% of all businesses in the province. The $2 million investment complements other government initiatives such as Starter Company Plus, Summer Company, the Digitalization Competence Centre, and the Retail Modernization Project Grant.

With this latest commitment, the Ontario government continues to emphasize its focus on economic self-reliance, job creation, and supporting the next generation of business leaders from all corners of the province.
