Ontario remains one of Canada’s busiest and most critical border regions, and new figures from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) show just how extensive enforcement activity has been across the province in 2025. In the Southern Ontario Region alone, officers recorded more than 4,000 illegal narcotic and smuggled tobacco seizures, including over 1,600 kilograms of cocaine, 350 kilograms of methamphetamine, and nearly 750,000 kilograms of illicit tobacco. Hundreds of firearms, prohibited weapons, and devices were also intercepted, alongside more than $1.6 million in undeclared currency.

The Greater Toronto Area (GTA) saw even higher activity, with more than 7,700 narcotic seizures reported. Officers intercepted significant quantities of opioids, cocaine, methamphetamine, and illegal cannabis, while also seizing thousands of prohibited weapons and devices. Currency seizures in the GTA exceeded $5.2 million, highlighting the financial scale tied to cross-border crime. CBSA officers also completed nearly 6,000 removals and reunited multiple missing children with their families, underscoring the agency’s role beyond enforcement alone.

Together, the numbers position Ontario as a frontline province in Canada’s border security efforts, where enforcement, public safety, and humanitarian responsibilities intersect daily.
