One person is dead after being shot by police in Mississauga on Thursday afternoon.
Peel Regional Police say officers were initially called to a residence in the area of Winston Churchill Boulevard and Britannia Road at approximately 2:30 p.m. following reports of a stabbing.
Police located a victim at the scene, who was transported to hospital. The victim’s condition has not been released.
In a subsequent update, police confirmed that an officer shot a suspect. The suspect was pronounced dead.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been notified and will investigate the circumstances surrounding the officer-involved shooting, as required under Ontario law.
The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected.
