Police say the incident occurred around 12:50 a.m. on March 17, 2026, at a residence near Carrville Woods Circle and Crimson Forest Drive. Multiple suspects, at least one armed with a firearm, allegedly forced their way into the home.

During the break-in, one of the occupants retrieved a legally owned and properly stored firearm and discharged it toward the intruders. The suspects fled the scene in a black pickup truck before officers arrived.

No residents inside the home were physically injured.

Shortly after, around 3:15 a.m., police were alerted that a man had arrived at a Toronto-area hospital with a gunshot wound. Investigators have since confirmed that the injured individual was involved in the Vaughan home invasion and was shot during the incident.

The suspect remains in stable condition in hospital under police custody, with charges pending.

Following a review of the evidence, investigators confirmed that no charges will be laid against the homeowner who discharged the firearm.

Police continue to search for three outstanding suspects, and the investigation remains ongoing.
