Windsor, ON – Windsor police are investigating after thieves made off with more than $200,000 worth of meat in a brazen trailer theft earlier this month.
The incident happened on Aug. 2 in the 2400 block of Cabana Road East, near Windsor International Airport.
Police say a semi-truck with a Coast 2 Coast Xpress trailer was parked in the lot around 2:30 p.m. The trailer contained 530 boxes of boneless beef chuck roast valued at about $160,000 USD (roughly $222,000 CAD).
At about 6:30 p.m., a white Cascadia Freightliner and a dark grey Jeep Rubicon entered the lot. Two suspects allegedly broke into the truck and drove off with the loaded trailer.
Investigators believe the truck and meat were moved along Highway 401 but neither has been located.
One suspect is described as slim with long, dark curly hair, wearing all black. The second was wearing dark pants, a light shirt, and a dark baseball hat.
Police are asking nearby residents and businesses to review surveillance or dashcam footage. Anyone with information is urged to contact Windsor police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4350 or provide an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477 (TIPS).
