Toronto police are appealing to the public for assistance as they investigate a violent assault that left one person with life-threatening injuries at Wellesley Subway Station.
According to Toronto Police Service, officers responded to a report of an assault in progress at the station on Monday, January 26, 2026, at approximately 7 p.m. Investigators say the victim and the suspect were both travelling on a northbound subway train when they became involved in a physical altercation.
Police allege that when the train arrived at Wellesley Subway Station, both individuals exited onto the platform. The suspect is accused of kicking the victim several times before fleeing the station. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.
The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 6 feet tall. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black horizontal puffer jacket with the hood pulled up.
Investigators are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or captured video footage, including cellphone or transit surveillance recordings, to come forward.
