Toronto police launched an investigation Friday morning after receiving reports that a vehicle was shot at while travelling on the Gardiner Expressway.
Officers were called to the area of South Kingsway and the Gardiner Expressway at around 9:47 a.m., where callers reported gunfire directed at a moving vehicle. When police arrived on scene, they located evidence of shots fired, though no injuries were reported.
As officers began their investigation, the westbound Gardiner was temporarily closed from Jameson Avenue to South Kingsway, causing significant traffic delays for late-morning commuters.
In an update, police confirmed that the highway has since reopened, but the investigation remains active.
