Hamilton Police released suspect images as they investigate city’s first shooting of 2026 

Four police-released surveillance images showing a suspected vehicle and suspect linked to a shooting investigation. Hamilton Police Service has released images of a suspect and a vehicle as part of an ongoing investigation into the city’s first shooting of 2026. 

The shooting happened at approximately 7:13 p.m. on January 31 at a business near East 28th Street and Fennell Avenue East. Police say an adult male was shot and taken to hospital in serious condition. 

Investigators with the Shooting Response Team have confirmed the suspect fled the scene in a waiting vehicle. Police are now asking for help identifying both the shooter and the vehicle involved. 

The suspect is described as a male, approximately 6 feet to 6 feet 3 inches tall, wearing a dark green puffy winter jacket, a black hoodie with a large white “Adidas” logo, black pants, and black shoes. 

Police believe the suspect fled in a 2020 Honda Civic, four-door, silver or grey in colour. The vehicle was last seen travelling northbound on Upper Sherman Avenue from Brucedale Avenue East.
