Hamilton police officer charged in child exploitation investigation

A Hamilton Police Service officer has been charged following an investigation into alleged child sexual abuse and exploitation material offences, according to Halton Regional Police. 

Police say 43-year-old David Hamilton of Burlington was arrested on February 25, 2026, and is facing one count of possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material and one count of transmitting such material. 

Investigators allege the offences occurred in Burlington between January 3 and January 4, 2026. Hamilton has been held in custody and is awaiting a bail hearing in Milton. 

The Hamilton Police Service said in a statement that David Hamilton served with the force as constable for 19 years and he has been suspended without pay.
