Hamilton Police Arrest Man for Public Drug Use, Seize Fentanyl and Other Substances

Hamilton Police have arrested a 41-year-old man after he was observed possessing and consuming illegal drugs in public on March 21, 2026. The arrest was the result of proactive patrols aimed at maintaining community safety in the downtown area. 

Around 8:30 p.m., officers on patrol near King Street West and West Avenue noticed a group of individuals behaving suspiciously. During their observation, the officers saw the man consuming illegal drugs using a glass pipe. He was immediately approached and taken into custody without incident. 

Following the arrest, police conducted a search incident to arrest, which resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of illegal drugs and related paraphernalia. Items recovered included 227 Dilaudid pills, 8.16 grams of fentanyl, 2.5 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale with drug residue, and two cellular phones. 

The accused has been charged with multiple offenses, including possession for the purpose of trafficking (four counts), possession of proceeds of crime, and failure to comply with a probation order.
